I can’t decide whether to buy a new or refurbished Macbook Pro. On the one hand the refurbished one is cheaper but it doesn’t come with Leopard on it or iLife 07 which have yet to be released and would come free with new models, alone they would cost at least £150. There’s also a rumour that there’s gonna be a new line of faster Macbook’s announced because Intel is releasing a new chip in May. But Apple took 2 or 3 months to update from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo so it might be the same this time round. I think I’ll wait till WWDC and if nothing has been announced by the end of that I’ll go ahead and order.

Apple screws up UK ads
Apple screwed up royally with the UK version of the ‘Get A Mac‘ ads which have been pretty successful in the US. What’s wrong is that the UK Mac is an arrogant twat and you like PC better because he’s pudgy and a bit dim. Whereas in the US, Mac is young, cute and you’d love to do him whereas PC is old, badly dressed and has an annoying voice. Wow, it’s Tim and I.
Harry Potter 7 cover revealed
I put on my new bed cover today since Mim and Kev will be sleeping in my bed tonight, I think I like this one even more than I liked my other one. It has a sheet to match it as well whereas the other one’s sheet was just white. This one is a flat sheet rather than a fitted sheet though which was a bit of a pain to put on but I got there in the end.
The new Harry Potter book’s cover got revealed yesterday. Of the three I’ve seen (US, UK kids edition, UK adult edition) I haven’t been particularly impressed by any of them, especially the UK kids one in which Harry looks at least 30 rather than 18.
No more college
No more college till April 10th yay! I finished my project at last today, think I wasted about half a tree doing revisions and then printing them off then changing something else though.
I found out that my college timetable after Spring break is exactly the same as it is now which is good cos it means I get every Monday off which is nice. Different classes though, and for one of them we are using PC’s. Ew.
28 Weeks Later
I just watched the first trailer for 28 Weeks Later and it’s actually looking pretty good. Probably won’t be as good as the first but it looks like it might be fun.
Stupidity
Some people’s stupidity beggers beyond beliefs sometimes when you read stuff like this in the news. I don’t know why but I expected the woman to be American.
Finally got The Sparrow
I finally got my book The Sparrow today, I phoned up Waterstones Sauchiehall Street yesterday afternoon and asked them to hold it for me and then when I got there no one could find it so they phoned the Argyle Street store and I walked down there and got it. I should hopefully finish my current book Panic before Friday so I can take The Sparrow with me to London to read. I also got Smallville Season 1 Disc 3 today so I’m gonna save that to watch on the train on Friday, love that show.
I watched the season finale of Battlestar Galactica Season 3 last night, it was pretty good. Not as good as the ends of season 1 or 2 but a good ending all the same. Apparently it isn’t back till 2008 though which is utter bollocks. Doctor Who starts on Saturday, I can’t wait. I’m gonna be at Ian’s and he has a group of friends who get together to watch them (what a bunch of geeks :D) so we’ll probably go round someone’s house to watch it. Should be good.
I was walking around town at lunch today and every single electronic store I went into had PS3’s in stock. Whether that means there wasn’t really any demand for them or that Sony just has managed to make loads of them I dunno but I don’t think it can be good either way for them.
Tim job interview
I feel really bad for Tim. He went for a job interview today and when he got there they told him the job had already been filled and that an e-mail telling him that had been sent out on Friday. He never received it and I bet they never even bothered to send it out. This was his first break since he lost his job and I just feel really annoyed that it fell through. I hope he doesn’t get disheartened and knows I’m always around for him, no matter what.
Looking at upgrading Macbook
I’m looking at upgrading from a Macbook to a Macbook Pro, it actually wouldn’t cost as much as I thought it would. There’s refurbished Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro’s for under £1k on the Apple Store and Core Duo’s at under £800. Obviously the Core 2 Duo would be better as it’s faster but I haven’t decided yet. There’s Macbook’s selling on eBay for as much as £500 so hopefully I could get at least a couple hundred for mine. I’ll have to look into it some more.
I’m meeting Dad on Thursday evening to go for a meal so I’ll speak to him and see if I can use his business to get it VAT free which would make it even cheaper.
