Where in the world is Jamie?

Tims houseI got bored today so I opened up a browser and thought I would compare the Google Maps/Windows Live Maps views of Tim’s house.

Well, if Windows would work I might show their picture but the Virtual Earth page seems to be buggered. Though I suspect it’s actually because you need to be on Internet Explorer to view it which is so retarded it’s ridiculous.

But yeh that’s Tim’s house, the one to the right of the green arrow with all the trees around it. That’s where in the world Jamie is, fascinating huh?

Cameramera

PowershotI ordered my camera yesterday, it’s coming on Tuesday. Yey! I can’t wait to get it. It’s a Canon Powershot S3 IS 6 megapixel camera. It’s supposedly the closest you can get to a digital SLR without the pricetag so hopefully I’ll be able to get some good photos with it.

Hopefully we’ll go somewhere on July 4th that I can take some test shots.

Save us Cobra!

Pretty scary stuff today in Scotland, there was a burning car driven into the front of Glasgow Airport in a supposed terrorist attack. It failed luckily and no one was injured, well except for the guys who tried to do it. Apparently one of them got the shit kicked out of him by people standing around, while the other one manage to set himself on fire. I don’t think these guys’ll be getting a good write up.

Apparently they have linked the attack to the two in London that were thwarted earlier in the week. (I like using the word thwarted, I don’t get to say it enough.)

It’s pretty scary though if it is part of a bigger operation and not just a couple of neds drunk on Buckfast who though it’d be a laugh.

The threat level in Britain has been raised to ‘critical’ which means an attack is ‘imminent’ but thankfully Cobra has been notified. Why does that sound like Britain’s version of Spectre?

Day 16: Buffy sings!

Img 1427Yesterday was all about the Buffy. We had a lazy day all day and watched a couple Angel’s simply because we knew it would be a late night. Why?

Because we had tickets for the Buffy Sing-A-Long which isn’t as sad as it sounds. Basically in Buffy season 6 there was a musical episode which was all written by Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy) and now fans play it in cinemas and sing a long and do trivia and ‘Buffy-oke’ beforehand. Oh, it is as sad as it sounds I guess.

But it was a load of fun anyway. You got a bag of props which were fangs, a finger puppet for the Mutant Enemy bit at the end, a party popper and bubbles.

We didn’t get home till 2:40am in the end but it was so much fun, definitely a night I’ll remember for a while.

When good games go bad

hour of victory
I hate when a game that I think looks fun and get excited about ends up being shit. Normally it’ll start off good and end up around a 7 or 8 so I’ll rent it rather than buying it.

But then there is Hour of Victory. It’s a WW2 game and we know how I like the WW2 games. All the videos and screenshots looked great and everything pointed to it being a great game.

Then I read this review. 2 out of 10?! That’s insanely low, I think maybe even the lowest Xbox 360 game so far? Poor Midway. Someone there needs a slap.

Half Life 2 The Orange Box

Orangebox 360EA and Valve today finally revealed the finalized box artwork for the upcoming Half Life 2 The Orange Box. It originally looked like this. I heard the guy who ok’ed that has disappeared. Such a shame. Truly.

I can’t wait to get this game.

iTunes 7.3

Itunes7Apple updated iTunes to 7.3 today pretty much only to add in a feature that allows people to activate their iPhone. Allows is a soft word really, you have to activate it via iTunes or you can’t use anything on the phone, not even the iPod. Way to continue locking people in Steve!

But anyway, iTunes 7.3. Yey another update, it’s always good to get new things right? Wrong. Upon downloading and installing the update, my iTunes promptly told me to go to fuck. It bounced a couple times in the dock and then thought ‘fuck it’ and gave up. 3 delete and reinstalls later and I turned to the MacNN forums for ideas. Turns out that Shapeshifter, my program fro themeing OS X was blocking iTunes from popping up it’s licence agreement. It’s . 7.x update, does it really need a whole new licence?

Anyway I stuck iTunes on the ‘exclude’ list, which basically makes it sit in the maughty corner while it loads, opened it and accepted everything, closed it, took it off the exclude list, opened it again and shazam. It works.

A whole lot of hassle for a whole lot of nothing.

iPhoneness

IphoneThe iPhone has now gone on sale on the East Coast of America, apparently it’s getting quite the reception. Which is always nice.

Elsewhere there’s a rumour going around that there’s to be an announcement on Monday from Apple about the European launch of the iPhone. And interestingly enough there’s apparently going to be a 3G version of the iPhone.

Unfortunately though the rumour states that the carriers will be Vodafone and T-Mobile with the actual phone being sold through The Carphone Warehouse. I just hope they have good data plans and not a $600 price tag.

Car bomb in London

London Police this morning released details of two car bombs that were found in London. One of them apparently could’ve killed hundreds of people if it had gone off.

It’s pretty insane, they keep foiling all these terrorist plans against the UK but nobody ever knows anything about them until they are narrowly avoided. Surely they should let people know about things?
