I finished Half-Life 2 earlier, such a great game. I forgot how much of a mindfuck the ending is though. I started on Episode One and it’s been a bit slow so far but hopefully it’ll pick up soon.
I find out tomorrrow whether the report I handed in last Thursday was good enough for a pass. I really hope it was cos I do not want to have to rewrite it, I struggled enough first time. If I’ve passed that then I think I only have one more assessment for that class. Most of our classes are starting to finish up now since the block ends the week after next and our timetable changes. I hope I get another good timetable, the same as just now would be perfect in fact.
Less than 7 weeks till I’m off again on my travels, less than 8 till Christmas and 6 tomorrow till I finish college. Counting things down is fun.

Happy Halloween! I wish I were a kid again, Halloween used to be so much more fun. Getting all dressed up and then traipsing around getting sweets, and sometimes money though it was only ever old people who did that, and then at the end you would pour it all out and make yourself sick eating all the candy. I don’t actually want to do it for the candy, I’ve gone off candy on my healthiness kick, I just want to do it for the fun.
Next year I want to be in America for Halloween cos they celebrate it as adults over there whereas here it is seen as a kids holiday. Tim is going to a friends house party tonight dressed as a ‘fallen angel, his costume is really good and he spent over $60 on it. If you did that here people would look at you strange. Apparently he scared a child when he went to the supermarket at lunch, made his day.

My friend Alex alerted me to this ‘hack’ to change Leopard’s dock so I did it and it now looks a lot better in my opinion. A lot of people are hating the Dock and menu Bar but I’m actually liking them. They’re a refreshing change from Tiger.

Quite a few interesting stories circulating the internet this Tuesday. First the fact that the fastest performing Vista laptop is in fact a MacBook Pro. I liked what little time I had with Vista so I’m not gonna slate it and it can only be good press for Apple to be shown as the best performer in the PC notebook market. Next is the announcement that Leopard sold 2 million copies over the weekend, pretty impressive. Last but not least is the heartwarming story about Apple seeing a homemade iPod Touch advert and hiring the student who made it to make a proper TV version which aired yesterday. Bit worrying that Apple had to turn elsewhere for ideas but ok.

In 3 days time it will be November, and what does November bring? No not Guy Fawkes night but something far more exciting. Something wonderful and magic. November brings….eggnog lattes! Yes, the red cups are coming to Starbucks sometime in the coming weeks! How exciting.
Yes I realise I am sad for this but eggnog lattes are super tasty and make me think of Christmas.

Last weekend when we went to the Lake District I took my speakers with me and when I got there they weren’t working, turns out something had happened to the plug. So for the past week I’ve been switching the one cable I have between the two sets of speakers I have, one for my Macbook and one for my Xbox 360. Today I was in Asda and they had a 2.1 Speaker Set for £10 and since it would’ve been at least £5 for a new plug I got that and I’m glad I did. It has a sub woofer as well as two speakers so my music sounds really good. I never realised before how tinny my Macbook speakers were.
Mum also bought me some thermals socks which are nice and cosy and keep my feet warm. We also got a new showerhead cos our one was leaking so I switched them over and now it’s fine. Gonna try out the new one later when I go for my shower, it doesn’t seem as powerful as the old one but we’ll see.
I just had a lovely dinner of carrot and coriander soup, then toad in the hole with sweetcorn and mash potatoes. I always forget that I actually really like carrot and coriander soup because it sounds not very nice but it actually is. The toad in the hole was store bought so it wasn’t as nice as Tim’s.
[UPDATE] The shower seems alright, I was right in thinking it’s a bit underpowered but it serves its purpose.

I got The Orange Box through my letter box on Saturday morning and I’ve been playing it through since then. It comprises Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. I’m playing through the Half Life trilogy just now, almost finished Half Life 2 which I’ve played before but it’s fun to play again. It’s a brilliant game which is perfect in nearly every way. Portal is supposed to be really good as well, but it messes with your mind so I dunno how much I’ll enjoy that. Team Fortress 2 is multiplayer only and I’m not keen on the art style but I’ll give it a try.

My mum and I went to Au Naturale yesterday (I didn’t buy anything though, yey me!) and on the way back we were in the car talking about Ross and Gillian because Linzi had been telling Mum that they’d both recently changed their relationship status from Single to something else. Anyway we were talking about how everyone and their mother thinks that somethings going on between them but they’ve always denied it, but now that they’ve moved to Australia maybe they are going to admit it.
I said I didn’t really think anything was going on because it’s not like they have any reason to hide it. Gillian isn’t some hideously deformed three legged goat, and is practically part of the family now! I mean if I can tell my mother I have a (now) 40 year old boyfriend then I would hope Ross could tell her that he has Gillian. And I think he could, hence my reasoning in the there’s nothing going on category.
I don’t really remember the point of this post.

Sabah came over last night and we watched Halloween: Ressurection, such a crap movie but Sabah was terrified. She wouldn’t even walk to her car on her own. It was good fun though, haven’t seen her in a while.

Did you remember to put your clock back? If you live in Britain then the clocks went back at 2AM this morning so remember to put your clocks that aren’t automatic back by one hour. For some strange reason America changed it so that they don’t go back for another couple weeks. Always gotta be different huh? Australia goes forward an hour also which I never knew but I guess it makes sense since it’s Spring for them. So now it’s 10.5 hours time difference between here and Ross. I’ve never heard of a half hour time difference before.
