Last week there was a story in the papers about a guy who had turned up at a police station in England claiming he didn’t know who he was. A few days later that was revealed as bull as it turned out he knew exactly who he was, his name was John Darwin and he was presumed dead. In 2002 he has set sail in a canoe and disappeared, a few weeks later his smashed canoe was found but no body.

For five years the world thought he was dead and then he suddenly appeared back from the dead, everyone rejoiced. Until he was arrested on suspicion of fraud. Seems his wife, also arrested as soon as she got off the plane bringing her to England from Panama where she moved to 7 weeks go, cashed in on his life insurance and then moved to Panama.

What doesn’t make sense to me though is, why did he go to the police? They didn’t seem to be closing in on him. He was in another country and everyone thought he was dead. His elderly father and two children aren’t believed to have been in the know and are pretty pissed off. So was it his conscience? Did they run out of cash? Nobody seems to know and he doesn’t seem to wanna tell.

How very annoying.
