According to all the news shows lately anyway. Somehow it’s taken two months but it’s finally hit the fan as the mainstream media has discovered that Mass Effect has a sex scene in it. I haven’t seen it myself, ew I don’t wanna see men and women going at it, but I think it lasts about a minute tops and you never get to see any flange or cock. You see the side of an alien boob and that’s it. It’s not porn either because you only get to see this scene if you go through certain stages before it and have a relationship with the lady, so basically it’s making it more real than any game that has ever come before and is trying to preserve the idea of relationships instead of it being a quick shag.

But no of course the media would assume that anything to do with videogames is bad and obviously the people telling them the facts are wrong and so of course what else do they do but make up their own? Duh, don’t you know that’s how the mainstream news works? So now we have Mass Effect, the pornographic game that is objectifying women and allowing young boys to virtual rape female aliens. Oh but we also can’t forget that it’s got guns in it also so it must be turning them into killers as well.

Mass Effect is rated M for Mature which is the highest rating a game can get before it goes Adults Only and that’s only if it has actual porn in it. Games rated M shouldn’t be sold to anyone under the age of 17 and so shouldn’t be played by them either theoretically. Of course what does the media say? That of course they’re going to get their hands on it, they’re kids, it’s what they do. Whose fault is that? It’s not BioWare or Microsoft’s that’s for sure. Microsoft has put in place parental controls, something neither Sony nor Nintendo has by the way, and instead of that being seen as something positive they are just completely ignoring that it’s there.

It really annoys me when something like this happens because Mass Effect is a brilliant game and one of the asshats on the show even said it’s like playing a film which is true and yet because of one little minute long scene they’ve decided to write it off and that’s so unfair to BioWare as they have really raised the bar with this game. I hope all this just gets swept under the carpet and the game doesn’t start getting banned or anything because soccer moms are too lazy to parent their own children.
