earthshock.jpgI went into town today to meet Dad, Lorene, Mandy and Emma for lunch and a bit of shopping.

We had lunch at Scala, I think that’s what it was called, and I had potato and leek soup. It was pretty tasty but I would’ve liked it to be a little thicker, it was very watery. I prefer my p&l soup to have chunks of potato in it.

After that we went for a walk around to look for trousers for me for work but couldn’t find any. I’ll just get another pair of the ones I got from Asda.

Time was getting on by this point so everyone else headed home and I decided to do some shopping. I didn’t buy a tripod like I was intending but instead bought some ‘classic’ Doctor Who DVDs. Earthshock, Inferno and Genesis of the Daleks were the order of the day.

I watched Earthshock earlier, it was a good storyline with a surprising (of would’ve been had Ian not ruined it for me) ending. I’m about halfway through Inferno at the moment, it’s very good story.

The older Doctor episodes do seem to have better storylines than the new ones, I think it’s because the old ones normally lasted longer rather than fitting everything into 45 minutes. The special effects are hilariously bad though. I’m sure they were cutting edge at the time but now they are just laughable.

I’m going into town tomorrow so I might have another gander at the Doctor section in Virgin.
