I did my first five hour shift today, which actually turned out to be a six and a half hour shift because it was so busy that Nalin asked me if I could stay a while longer. It means more money for me and I told Linzi to come back at 4:30 with Mum, which they did.

The hot water was out so we couldn’t clean any dishes this morning while they were fixing it and then they never actually managed to fix it so we had to clean stuff with cold water which was fun.

For my lunch, which I didn’t actually get till 2:30, I had a swiss cheese and ham panini with a glass of tap water. I was going to have a hot chocolate but the air is really dry in the shop and water is really refreshing. When Linzi and Mum came I had a strawberry milkshake which was nice. I made Mum’s espresso which she said was nice.

I’m working 11-5 tomorrow which should be pretty busy cos it’s a Saturday afternoon but it’ll be good experience. I’ve still to actually find out when I’m working next week because I don’t actually know what my hours are.

I’m really enjoying my job so far, it’s a bit tiring learning everything and I feel stupid from time to time when I have to ask something cos I’ve forgotten it but it’s better to ask and get it told again than to cock it up. I’m also trying to ask what to do less and finding things to do of my own accord, showing initiative and all that.
