Slow Decay
Another day, another book.
Finished my first Torchwood book and I have to say I was really impressed with it.
The books are the same number of pages as the Doctor Who books (250 pages) but they are physically bigger both in width and height.
They are also in hardcover (though the Doctor Who books can be purchased this way too but mine was paperback cos they were part of a set) and the cover art is more adult with less prominent colours.
Speaking of adult the Torchwood books, like the tv show, are a lot more adult. My one dealt with sex, body image, people eating people and, as it is Torchwood after all, yet more sex.
The storyline was very good though and much better paced as opposed to the Doctor Who books. It helps that there are five main characters in Torchwood to Doctor Who’s two so it allows for a lot more character development.
Which is a nice way to sort of go beyond the TV show.
All in all I really enjoyed Slow Decay and am looking forward to reading the next one, Another Life.
