Spotlight on Spotlight

In all the time I had Tiger on my MacBook I never once used Spotlight, the searching utility in OS X 10.4. It was slow and just basically crap. But then out came Leopard with revamped Spotlight and so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It’s actually pretty good, it’s fast, it gives you [...]

Vista and iMovie

I had two Mac problems today. The first was/is iMovie which refuses to launch for some annoying reason. I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling it but to no avail. I’m gonna take it to the Apple Store if it isn’t work since I’m pretty sure they provide support for it.
The second was Boot Camp. I [...]

Mac Mosaic

One of the 300 new features implemented in Mac OS X 10.5 was the addition of a new screensaver mode for when you want to use your own photos. There’s the regular view that goes through each photo with transitions between each. Then there’s a view where you see smaller versions of photo’s as [...]

Volumes

My MacBook has a clever little feature built into it, one of those ones you don’t really notice until it jumps up in your face. It’s to do with the headphone socket. I use the headphone socket with the jack from my speakers to play music from my MacBook through my external speakers. Now what [...]

Remember me, so tenderly, don’t let me slip away

My friend Alex alerted me to this ‘hack’ to change Leopard’s dock so I did it and it now looks a lot better in my opinion. A lot of people are hating the Dock and menu Bar but I’m actually liking them. They’re a refreshing change from Tiger.

Music is my boyfriend

Quite a few interesting stories circulating the internet this Tuesday. First the fact that the fastest performing Vista laptop is in fact a MacBook Pro. I liked what little time I had with Vista so I’m not gonna slate it and it can only be good press for Apple to be shown as the best [...]

Sorry, you’re not a winner

So yesterday I went into town to get Leopard, what a palava that was. Ended up standing for an hour in the rain outside in the queue, I originally was gonna sit in Starbucks but the line was surprisingly long at 5PM so after I’d got my skinny white chocolate mocha I went and stood [...]

Leopard pounces October 26th, 6pm

Of course the day after I post about Apple not announcing the street date for Leopard what do they do? They announce it. Not only do they announce it but they put a spiffy countdown on their homepage which appears to be local time for me. So theoretically that means the UK gets it before [...]
