Weird, with a side of creepy please

When you make a game commercial, you should mostly stick to showing the game so that people know what it looks like, right?
Well Microsoft apparently thinks that approach is so last year so they’ve decided a better way is to make your ad as surreal as possible. First there was the “play 360 and your [...]

Dead Space

I got Dead Space on rental today and started playing it tonight after working. In the dark. With headphones on. Bad Idea.
It’s a survival horror game like Resident Evil but set in space. The game creates tense, creepy environments and then makes things jump out at you and such.
So playing in a dark room [...]

Left 4 Dead

The demo for Left 4 Dead came out today and I played it earlier and it was a total blast. I’ve always thought of that game as a rental but I’m now on the fence. I think it’ll be a LOT of fun on co-op and even when I was just playing it myself it [...]

Game on!

So on Friday I got Gears of War 2 and so far I’m loving it. Tomorrow I’ll be getting Dead Space, Quantum of Solace and Spiderman: Web of Shadows on rental. I guess it’s kinda good I’m getting so few hours at work, it means more quality game time, yay!
I’m gonna send back Saints Row [...]

The cogs keep on turning

I got Gears of Wars 2 in the mail this morning and so far it’s pretty fun. It’s really just Gears of War but with a few extra guns, some light graphics improvements and a new story. I think there’s a lot of multiplayer improvements but I doubt I’ll play that much. I’m looking forward [...]

Avatarino

The 360 now lets you create Avatars, which are really just prettied up Mii’s. I have to say I like the 360 versions better, they’re much closer to real people. Hopefully there’ll be more customization options as time goes on. And Microsoft mustn’t charge for them, that’d totally ruin the whole thing.
Anyway, here’s my avatar.
No [...]

New Xbox, New Xperience

I woke up this morning, turned on my 360 to play some Lego Star Wars and got a prompt to download a console update. Huh? I hadn’t been accepted into the preview program so what the hell was this? I accepted, it installed and lo and behold when I booted up afterwards there was the [...]

I will race you to the waterside

I got Snow Patol’s new album this week and I’m really liking it. It’s not much of an evolution from Eyes Open but there are a few songs that have a very new sound to them that I like.
I’m glad it turned out good cos I was a bit nervous it wouldn’t after I was [...]

Back to the start

Ian Blair finally resigned from his position yesterday, three years and seven bullets after he should’ve. How he managed to hang on this long is beyond me.
I got paid today and transferred £50 across to my savings, I figure that’s a better idea than waiting to see how much I have left at the end [...]

Prepare to drop

Back during E3 Bungie had a little viral campaign going on that many assumed would be to announce some sort of new game. However no one got to find out because Bungie’s “publisher”, Microsoft to you and me, pulled the plug.
Two months later and Bungie has finally been able to spill the beans. It looks [...]
